Pay range: $45,000 to $60,000

Midwest Door and Hardware supplies commercial doors, frames,and hardware for projects across sectors like schools, healthcare, arenas, churches, and more. We are known for reliability, partnership, andcraftsmanship, with deep hands-on expertise behind every opening.

Why this role matters

We are hiring an estimator to help us win the right work,bid accurately, and support smooth handoffs into detailing and projectmanagement. This role is ideal for someone who is naturally detail-oriented,works with urgency, and enjoys solving complex bid packages with many movingparts.

A major plus for this hire is comfort with ERP systems. Weimplemented Comsense ERP. If you already know Comsense, that is a strong diferentiator.

What you will do

  • Prepare  accurate, timely cost estimates and submit bids for assigned projects.
  • Research  plans, specifications, and materials to ensure complete, compliant bids.
  • Collaborate  with the Estimating Manager, Sales Manager, President, and Project Managers on bid strategy and appropriate mark-up.
  • Communicate  with general contractors and architects as needed, build strong working relationships, and support follow-up after bid submission.
  • Support  the bidding calendar and help ensure deadlines are met (including occasional extended hours during peak bid periods).
  • Help  improve estimating processes by proactively taking initiative beyond assigned tasks, including maintaining a “turn-over” file for coverage during unexpected absences.

 

What we are looking for (must-haves)

  • Proven self-starter with a strong track record of follow-through, ownership, and accuracy.
  • Bidding and estimating experience in the door and hardware industry (preferred), or construction estimating experience with a transferable scope.
  • Experience with estimating and bidding software and a comfort level with learning new bid platforms quickly.
  • Experience using an ERP system that supports estimating, project workflow, and handoffs (any comparable ERP is valuable).
  • Ability to manage multiple bids at once, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines with high quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable working with internal stakeholders and external partners.

 

Strong plus (nice-to-have)

  • Comsense ERP experience (cherry on top).
  • Door and Hardware Institute (DHI) industry exposure, commercial openings experience, or familiarity with hardware sets, electrified hardware, and code compliance concepts.

 

Education and experience

  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years of similar experience in a detail-oriented role (more is welcome).
