FAQs

Do you supply any residential doors or hardware?

No, residential is a different beast, and we rarely help there, even for commercial-grade hardware. Other shops handle homes—we focus on commercial doors, frames, and hardware for schools, churches, and offices. Our architectural wood doors and fancy hardware make buildings gorgeous, but that’s for commercial projects, not houses.

Do you supply commercial overhead doors or garage doors?

Nope, we don’t supply commercial overhead, garage, or roll-up man doors for factories right now. We’re eyeing those products for the future, but our focus is on doors, frames, and hardware (DFH) for schools, hospitals, and offices. We stick to what we do best to keep your projects on track.

Do you require a down-payment and/or will you give terms to contractors?

We’ve learned the hard way and tightened up our payment process. Long-term clients won’t notice a change, but for new folks or slow payers, we need 50% down on special orders and the remainder at pickup or delivery. We’re happy to talk terms after a credit check and good payment history show you’re solid.

Why should we trust Midwest Door over other Commercial Door and Hardware distributors in the region?

We get it—everyone claims great service, but you’ll judge us by what we do, not what we say. If we don’t deliver, you’d pick someone else, and that’s fair. We’re not perfect, but we work hard on our team and systems to nail your project every time. You’ll choose us every time you have a choice because we’ve earned it with solid service and communication.

What is your service area for minor adjustments and complete installation work?

For minor door, frame, and hardware tweaks, we stay a little closer to home, covering Lincoln, North Platte, and some work in the Omaha metro area. For bigger installations, we team up with trusted third-party contractors. However, the buck stops with us—we guarantee quality service and products every time.

What is Midwest Door and Hardware’s market area?

We serve national retail clients, but our heart is Nebraska, covering the whole state and Omaha-Lincoln metro areas. We’re expanding to underserved regions and love supporting rural communities alongside big metro projects. Wherever you are, we partner to make your project work.

I have a gouged wood door, do you do cosmetic repair?

Absolutely! We fix gouges, holes, scratches, and dings to make wood doors look brand new, saving you thousands on replacements. We work with contractors, building owners, and manufacturers to repair doors damaged in shipping, installation, or workplace activities. It’s like the damage never happened.

Do you typically deliver products to the job site?

We deliver on our trucks from Council Bluffs to North Platte, ensuring doors and hardware arrive ready to install. Unlike others, we don’t wait for a full truckload—we get you what you need fast, area by area. If timelines are tight or you’re further out, we’ll drop-ship from factories or use carriers, always prioritizing your project’s schedule.

I heard you have 2-3 day lead times on common stocked items. What are those items?

With thousands of door, frame, and hardware combos, it’s tough to stock exactly what every small project needs. We keep common sizes ready for 2–3 day delivery, and our shop can make tweaks if we’re not swamped with big jobs. If you’re flexible, we’ll talk through what’s in stock to fit your needs fast.

What are your typical lead times for special order items?

Special order lead times vary by item and timing, typically 3–5 weeks for most projects. We can rush orders, but they may still take weeks due to supply chain hiccups. Our wholesale partners often have stock available, and we’ll keep you posted with honest timelines and updates.

How can your fabrication shop help me with my project needs?

As the only fabrication shop west of Omaha, we modify stock doors for small jobs and assemble frame pieces in-house for large projects. This saves you money over pricier factory-welded frames and bulky shipping costs.

What sets Midwest Door apart from other distributors?

Our team, systems, and tech work together to deliver consistently, earning a reputation that brings clients back. We know a strong reputation means repeat business, and a weak one can hurt us.
